Damp Control

039
Here you can see the rising ground moisture (Rising damp) manifesting itself above the skirting board. The rising dampness has brought with it aggressive ground salts which have contaminated the wall plaster.Prior to introducing any damp proofing methods it is essential to correctly diagnose the actual source of dampness. Is it rising dampness, condensation, penetrating dampness, or simple floor/wall joint bridging? Get the diagnosis wrong and remediation is likely to be wrongly specified. Dampness will then persist, and costs incurred in treating the ‘wrong’ dampness will be totally wasted.

It is therefore essential that the specialist surveyor has the knowledge, experience and appropriate instrumentation to clearly identify the different causes of dampness. We at H2O Remedial Services have that expertise and decades of experience. Our surveyors are trained and hold the nationally recognized qualifications, the Certificated Surveyor in Remedial Treatment (CSRT). Whatever the cause of dampness, our surveyors will recommend the most cost effective action. We give our clients, large or small, full confidence in both the diagnosis and solution of the damp proofing problem.

All our chemical DPC systems are suitable for use in accordance with BS 6576, our injection mortar and electro osmotic systems are all approved by the BBA.

Chemical Damp Course Installations

There are many effective solutions to control Rising Ground Moisture caused by capillarity, the most widely used and proved systems are:
One of our technicians is injecting a diffusible cream damp proofing agent into a damp affected wall. This material has a British Board of Agrement Accreditation.Chemical Diffusion – This involves the introduction into the wall of a concentrated “Emulsion Cream” which slowly diffuses to form a water repellent resin barrier. Used in brickwork and blockwork construction.

CHEMICAL_DAMPCOURSE_INSTALLATION_PROCESS.jpg_28052010-1156-54Injection Mortar – The installation technique is similar to the above in that the “Mortar Agent” is introduced into the wall where is reacts with the rising ground moisture, crystallizes and forms an impermeable barrier to control water rise.

Our Technicians are fully trained in the installation of all Chemical Damp Proof Course Systems, our CSRT qualified Surveyors will always specify the best system suitable for the building to be treated.
