Manchester to Blackpool Cycle Ride for Christies 2010
July 4, 2010
Once again Ian along with 3000 others took up the challenge using pedal power to cycle from Manchester United Football Club to the Mirror Ball on Blackpool South Promenade.
Despite torrential rain coupled with high winds along the St Annes Stretch (about 5 miles long and adjacent to the sea) Ian completed the ride in a time of 4hours 20minutes. Of course the main reason for the event is to raise funds for The Christie, which is outside the scope of the NHS.
In 2009 a total of £12 million was raised which funded a range of things, including a new radiopharmacy, to communications skills training for nursing staff, a new state of the art surgical robot and ground breaking cancer research.
Ian has raised so far a total of £170.00, for this worthy cause, so thank you to all that sponsored him, and a special thanks to the following:
- Ian’s Mum & Dad, Pat & Jimmy
- Mick, from Advanced Building NW
- Nicola, from Booth Associates
- Old snake hips, Clive
- & the effervescent Trev & Babs
